We are not alone in the fight for the Minnesota Health Plan! Nurses for the Minnesota Health Plan (NMHP) is a group of determined nurses who support single payer universal health care in Minnesota. The Minnesota Health Plan would create such a system in our state, covering all Minnesotans and reducing the cost. Check them out here.

MUHCC welcomes Erin Anderson as our new Campaign Manager
The Board of The Minnesota Universal Health Care Coalition announces the selection of Erin Anderson, MAPL, as its Campaign Manager.
Since graduating from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a Master’s Degree in Advocacy and Political Leadership in 2006, Erin has worked as a committee page in the Minnesota House of Representatives, as the Legislative Director for the Minnesota Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), as a Policy Advocate for Grasstops, Inc., and as an organizer for electoral campaigns.
Erin’s passion for single-payer health care, her experience with issue-based campaigns, and her knowledge of volunteer-based organizations will bring energy and focus to the coalition and The Campaign for The Minnesota Health Plan.
Erin assumes the Campaign Manager role on May 23rd, and can be reached at erin@muhcc.org, (c) 763-228-5689. Lisa Nilles will step down as Acting Director on May 23, and resume her position as Board Chair. Susan Hasti, Acting Board Chair during the transition, will resume her role as Vice Chair of the Board.
St. Paul City Council unanimously passes a resolution in support of The Minnesota Health Plan

The St. Paul City Council unanimously voted to endorse a resolution in support of The Minnesota Health Plan, which calls upon the council president to inform area legislators of the council’s support for universal health coverage, and urges them to vote in the affirmative for the Minnesota Health Plan.

Dayton Picks Edward Ehlinger MD as Commissioner of Health
MINNESOTA UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE COALITION APPLAUDS DAYTON HEALTH COMMISSIONER APPOINTMENT- Edward Ehlinger MD, superb pick
(December 31 2010)-St. Paul- Governor-Elect Mark Dayton today named Edward Ehlinger MD as Commissioner of Health. Dr. Ehlinger is currently Medical Director of Boynton Health Center at the University of MN, Faculty at the School of Public Health, and President of the Twin Cities Medical Association. Dr. Ehlinger is uniquely qualified for the position having practiced in internal medicine, pediatrics and public health for nearly 4 decades. He has served as physician, administrator, health services researcher and advocate for underserved populations. Dr Ehlinger is also host of A Public Health Journal on cable access TV. His broad understanding of public health will be critical as Commissioner.
